The Mission of St John Paull II

The St. John Paul II Institute of Theology, Buea is a Catholic institution of higher learning for the growth in the Catholic Faith and teaching. The Institute has as its main aim to support Christians to deepen their faith and grow in their love and service of Jesus Christ.

JOPASIT offers courses in Sacred Scripture, Catechetic, Liturgy, Family Life, Spiritual Theology, Dogmatic Theology, Moral Theology, Canon Law and Church History.

JOPASIT also engages in non-theological courses such as Introduction to Philosophy and Latin, Logic, Family Life, Greek and Hebrew.

The entire programme of the Institute was worked out based on this vision of the founder to provide opportunities for Christians who desired, to foster and deepen their faith in order that they may live it with conviction in a complex and technological age.  To realize this vision of the founder, the Institute organized each year a comprehensive learning pragrame to run for 3 years.  This package which is a 3 year programme comprises of one year to give opportunities for Christians to know and deepen their faith in the shortest possible period. At the end of each year, they were awarded an Attestation of Study. The goal is to form mature and informed Christians and people of goodwill who wish to follow the programme. Christians who wish to follow the one year intensive programme paid a registration fee of 5,000 frs and provided a token tuition of 20,000 frs to be paid in installments.

Those who wanted a proper and comprehensive understanding of their faith, and had completed “A” Levels or its equivalent enrolled for a three year serious academic programme after which they were to obtain a Higher Diploma in Theology.
